Ownership & Governance of Pioneers Hospital
Pioneers Hospital is owned by Rio Blanco County. The County Commissioners
appoint a seven-person Board of Trustees to serve as the governing body
for the facility. These individuals represent a broad spectrum of our
community and county. No more than four may reside inside the Meeker
City Limits. The trustees serve as volunteers, receiving no compensation
for their services. Through arrangements with the Town of Meeker, the
governing board and administration integrate the overall operations for the Walbridge Wing.
The Board of Trustees creates the mission, vision,
and strategic plan, determine facility policy, and provide direction and
counsel for administration. Trustees are responsible for hospital compliance
with applicable legal requirements, maintenance of professional, quality,
and ethical standards of health services, sound financial management and
operation of the system, and selection and appointment of a qualified
medical staff.
Board meetings are held monthly on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 5:30
p.m. Each trustee also serves on various committees such as Physician/Hospital
Organization (PHO), Human Resources, and Finance. In addition to internal
educational sessions, trustees are encouraged to attend external continuing
education meetings to keep abreast of trends within the healthcare environment.
