Pioneers Medical Center Board of Directors Elects
Kris Borchard, Board Chair

Meeker, CO—January 19, 2007—At the first Annual Meeting of the Eastern Rio Blanco County Health Service District, the Pioneers Medical Center (PMC) Board of Directors elected the officers for 2007. Kris Borchard was elected as the President, Dondi Glasscock as the Vice President, and Will Grady as the Secretary/Treasure.

“The Board of Directors is excited about the new year, and the new district. There is a lot of work to be done. Over the next few months we will complete the financial transition from a county hospital to a district hospital, and we will be designated as Critical Access Hospital,” said Kris Borchard, President, PMC Board of Directors. “A couple of key initiatives that PMC will implement this next year is our community communications, we want you to know what happens here at Pioneers. Additionally, we will begin implementing an electronic medical records program; which will improve patient care at the PMC campus and improve patient communications to collaborative providers at distant points of care,” continued Borchard.

Six of the seven directors were in attendance at the January 18th Board of Directors meeting. The meeting began with a year-end budget report. Roger White, PMC Chief Financial Officer reported that Pioneers Medical Center ended the year with a Net Loss of ($349,821). It was an improvement over the ($514,014) loss in 2005. Part of the reason for the Net Loss is over $400,000 in uncollectible accounts and charity care. On a positive note, year end production numbers were as follows: 1,547 Hospital Days, 9,583 Walbridge Memorial Wing days, 1,591 ER visits, 13,533 Patients visited Meeker Family Health Clinic, and 2,646 Home Health visit. PMC saw an increased volume in all areas of the campus.
